Workshop Equipment Servicing, Testing and Calibration

Ramps and lifts, wheel alignment equipment, welding equipment, air-conditioning machines, body jigs and measuring systems all need servicing, testing and calibration to keep working and to keep the workshop compliant. We arrange it for trade customers, with the work agreed before it starts.

Equipment we cover

  • Vehicle lifts and ramps — two-post and four-post lifts and scissor lifts: servicing and testing.
  • Wheel alignment equipment — servicing and calibration.
  • Welding equipment — servicing and calibration of MIG, spot and brazing equipment.
  • Air-conditioning service machines — servicing and calibration.
  • Body jigs and measuring systems — servicing and calibration.
  • Workshop tools — servicing of other equipment on request.

Why servicing and calibration matter

A lift that is not inspected is a safety and compliance problem before it is a reliability one: lifting equipment in a workshop falls under the Lifting Operations and Lifting Equipment Regulations (LOLER), which require thorough examination at set intervals — see the HSE guidance on LOLER. Alignment rigs, jigs and measuring systems that drift out of calibration produce repairs that are wrong by a few millimetres, which on a modern vehicle is enough to fail an ADAS calibration or leave a structural repair outside the manufacturer's tolerance. Welding equipment that is out of specification produces joints that look right and are not.

How the service works

  1. Tell us what you have. Equipment type, make and model, and what it needs — routine service, testing, calibration or a fault.
  2. We confirm the work and the quote. The scope of work and the price are agreed with you before anything is done. If a fault is found during a service that needs further work, that is quoted separately before it goes ahead.
  3. The work is carried out and documented. You receive the service, test or calibration record for your compliance file.

Send us a list of your equipment with makes and models and tell us what it needs. We'll confirm what we can arrange and quote before any work starts.

Equipment, alignment and the repair itself

Calibrated alignment equipment is the foundation of both good wheel alignment and successful ADAS calibration — see ADAS and wheel alignment. Accurate jigs and measuring systems are what let a bodyshop repair to the manufacturer's method — see manufacturer repair methods. And for the parts the repair needs, see parts sourcing.

Trade only

Equipment servicing, testing and calibration are offered to garages, bodyshops, accident repair centres and other automotive businesses. For the other services we currently offer, see other services, or contact us with your equipment list.

Servicing schedules and records

Lifting equipment has a statutory thorough-examination interval; alignment, measuring and welding equipment have manufacturer-recommended calibration intervals; air-conditioning machines need periodic servicing to keep refrigerant handling accurate and compliant. Keeping a single equipment register with each item's make, model, serial number, last service or calibration date and next due date makes it straightforward to plan the work and to answer an inspector or insurer. Send us your register, or a list of equipment, and we will confirm what we can arrange and quote before any work starts.

Faults and breakdowns

Where a piece of equipment has failed, tell us the symptoms and any error codes and we will confirm whether it can be assessed and repaired, with the work quoted before it goes ahead. Any further work found during a service is quoted separately.
